Practice Profile

Isaac Yung commenced full practice in 2015 after completing his pupillage with Mr. Clement Lau, Mr. Liu Man Kin (now Deputy High Court Judge MK Liu), Mr. Erik Shum and Mr. Derek Chan (now Derek Chan SC).  He is capable of conducting civil and criminal proceedings in English and Chinese.

He maintains a broad practice across the full spectrum of civil disputes including, but not limited to, trust and probate, personal and corporate insolvency, nuisance (water leakage), personal injuries, defamation, and other general commercial disputes.  He also has experience in providing legal opinions for companies proposed for listing.

In particular, he has developed a keen interest in probate and trust matters.  He has represented and advised executors, administrators and beneficiaries in administration actions, removal actions and Beddoe applications.  One of the estates in which he has advised on was worth over HK$1.0 billion.

Isaac also has experience in handling defamation cases, several of which involved very high-profile public figures.

Isaac has appeared as an advocate (either in his own right or as a led junior) in statutory appeal boards, the District Court, Court of First Instance and the Court of Appeal.

Selected cases

Yung Siu Chee Margaret & Ors v Choy Ching Wa Fionne & Ors [2017] HKCFI 1788 – successfully obtained leave for filing of a late affirmation by an executrix.

Yung Siu Chee Margaret & Ors v Choy Ching Wa Fionne & Ors [2017] HKCFI 1787 – obtained directions for the further conduct of the case.

Yung Siu Chee Margaret & Ors v Choy Ching Wa Fionne & Ors [2017] HKCFI 1864 – obtained directions on behalf of an executrix for the interim distribution of HK$88 million to beneficiaries.

Re Shisei (PNG) Enterprises Co Ltd [2018] HKCFI 1535 – acting for the joint and several liquidators of the company in an application to permanently stay the winding up of the company.

Lok Man Fai Felix v Architects Registration Board [2019] 2 HKLRD 745 – successfully set aside the decision of the inquiry committee against the appellant on the ground that no reason was given.

General Field Investment Ltd. v Chan Hoi Lam & Another [2019] 1 HKLRD 371 – acting for a defendant to resist an application for an order for sale of a property that was for the purpose of enforcing the plaintiff’s charging orders.
