PROFILE

With dual education and qualification in the Mainland and Hong Kong, Xizhen is developing a broad civil and commercial practice with a particular affinity for cross-border litigations and international arbitrations involving disputes arising out of secured financing and equity investment transactions with PRC elements. His practice includes also company winding-up, derivative actions, shareholder disputes and other commercial matters. He also has experience in dealing with various disciplinary proceedings.

He is a native Mandarin speaker and fluent in English and Cantonese.

  • Advised a minority shareholder of the holding company of a PRC company listed on Shenzhen Stock Exchange on, inter alia, forum shopping and forum non conveniens and trust law.
  • Advised a Taiwan company on, inter alia, enforcement of Taiwan judgment in Hong Kong courts.
  • Frequently advise on enforcement of PRC judgments in Hong Kong under common law or the Mainland Judgment (Reciprocal Enforcement) Ordinance (Cap.597).

  • Acted for the appellant insurance agent in the appeal against a decision of suspension of license before the Insurance Appeals Tribunal (under the Insurance Ordinance (Cap.41) and the previous Appeals Tribunal of The Hong Kong Federation of Insurers.
  • In two cases, acted for respondents in the disciplinary proceedings under the rules of the Association of China-Appointed Attesting Officers Limited.
