Professional Practice

As a practising barrister, Mr. Wang is developing a broad civil and commercial practice, with a particular affinity for cross-border litigations and arbitrations involving PRC elements:-

Served as counsel in an HKIAC arbitration involving disputes arising from transfer of shares in a HK company and lands situated in the PRC. (2013 HKIAC Arbitration Administered Rules; Hong Kong law as governing law; PRC law on land issues)

Served as counsel in an HKIAC arbitration involving disputes between two investment funds and a Hong Kong listed company together with its actual controllers where the governing law is PRC law. (2018 HKIAC Administered Arbitration Rules; PRC law)

Provided expert opinion on Hong Kong law in a CIETAC arbitration involving shareholders/investors disputes.

Advised on shareholders disputes in relation to a Hong Kong holding company with a PRC subsidiary listed in Shenzhen Stock Exchange.

Represented a Cayman Islands investment fund in an HKIAC arbitration involving disputes over convertible bonds transactions. (UNCITRAL Arbitration Rules)

Represented a technology company in an HKIAC arbitration involving equity investment disputes against a listed company. (2018 HKIAC Administered Arbitration Rules)

Represented the seller and guarantors in an HKIAC arbitration involving disputes over share buy-back and guarantee obligations. (2018 HKIAC Administered Arbitration Rules)

Mr Wang’s civil practice also covers company winding-up, derivative actions, shareholder disputes and other commercial matters.

He also has experience in dealing with various disciplinary matters, including, for example, proceedings under relevant rules of the Association of China-Appointed Attesting Officers Limited and Hong Kong Federation of Insurers.

He has also accepted instructions to provide legal service in relation to proceedings in the PRC and advise on PRC law, including matters on recognition and enforcement of foreign / Hong Kong arbitral awards in the PRC.

Mr Wang is a native mandarin speaker and fluent in Cantonese and English.
